Tri Card Poker has its roots in a three card betting game known as Primero which originated over three hundred years ago. Gradually, this game evolved giving way to more popular versions known as Post-and-Pair and later Brag. Brag was invented by a British professional Poker player Derek J. Webb in mid 1990.

Eventually the game of Brag made its way to America as Casino-Brag or Brit-Brag. Initially, this game was played on a very small scale –in small clubs or on the streets of America. This was only until Shuffle Master bought this game from Derek Webb in 1999.
